Task Description
Are you someone who:

* Can work flexible hours? If so, then the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is looking for you! Nosotros have openings for two Assistant Preparators.
Reporting to the Lead Preparator, Assistant Preparators safely handle artwork for installation/deinstallation, storage, and general collection care.
They also assist with logistical issues as they arise in the movement, storage, and transportation of art piece of work, working closely with all Collections and Exhibitions staff in social club to consummate projects in a timely manner in accordance with all-time practices.
To be successful in this office, you must:
* Install artwork, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, and audio/visual throughout the museum galleries and interactive spaces.
* Pack artwork for shipping and/or storage; consult Pb Preparator and Registrar to select proper packing materials depending upon the medium, surfaces, condition and fragility of the works in question.
* Document and capture in drove database information regarding new media installations in addition to art location tracking.
* Apply power tools in accordance with safely regulations.
Desired qualifications include a bachelor's caste, a minimum of 2 years of museum or other professional art handling experience, and:
* Noesis of and experience with best practices in art treatment, transport, and installation of various types of artwork.
* Proven power to work independently, with a partner, or with a larger squad, to complete tasks in a timely manner.
* Working knowledge of gallery lighting and carpentry/woodworking skills preferred.
* Mathematic and measuring skills are essential.
* Experience working with small mechanical and power tools desired.
* Familiarity with moving large/heavy objects and crates is essential; rigging knowledge is preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Part Suite.
* Ability to safely elevator threescore lbs.
* Ability to demonstrate care and accuracy while performing task duties.This is a full-time position, 5 days a week with evening and weekend availability as required to fulfill responsibilities and for related museum activities.
Ability to operate computers, printers, and telephones and general mobility throughout the building required.
